Dr Rizwan Ahmed FRCP

Dr Rizwan Ahmed is a Consultant Respiratory and General Medical Physician working at the Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2012. He qualified in 2003 and completed initial training in the Northwest and Yorkshire regions before returning to Bolton as Consultant.

His subspecialty interest is Medical Education and Respiratory Infections. He has completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from Cardiff University and is extensively involved in teaching, training and supervision of undergraduate & post graduate trainee doctors and Allied Health Professionals. He is a Designated Medical Practitioner for Non-medical prescribers (University of Bolton and University of Central Lancashire) and Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS instructor.

He is the Trust lead for Bronchiectasis, Tuberculosis and Respiratory Audits. He chairs the Bolton TB network Group and sits on the British Thoracic Society Tuberculosis Specialist Advisory Group, Greater Manchester TB Clinical Reference Group and Bolton Antibiotics Stewardship Committee. His has worked with Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA) to introduce and incorporate the principles of Shared Decision Making and Self-management Support in the Department making the services more effective, efficient and patient centered.
